Margraretha Wells’ humble beginnings began of working in salons, Margaretha Wells opened a small “Mom & Pop” shop in the back of her sister’s house. Wanting to expand, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia to pursue her dream. Within two years, she opened a full-service salon only to find a lack of skilled stylists in the area. Realizing that traditional cosmetology schools were not only expensive but leaving students insufficiently prepared, she obtained a teaching credential to start her own mentoring and training program.

Her career took a new turn when she was soon hired at West Central Technical College in Newnan, Georgia. There, she created a training program from the ground up and helped develop the curriculum for high school and adult students. Her role included supervising cosmetology and barbering instructors and overseeing more than 130 students. During her time at the college, Margraretha also facilitated SkillsUSA Georgia, State Level. She later advanced to Program Director at Vatterott College in Berkeley, Missouri where she restructured its training program, improved student retention and morale, raised state board test scores, and managed a staff of 16 instructors and over 300 students. In less than one year, the average state board test scores increased from 21% to 98%.

Margraretha eventually relocated to California where she was offered a one-year contract to help restructure an apprenticeship program in Los Angeles. With her guidance, the program was a success and Margraretha’s dream came true. With her extensive background in the cosmetology/barbering industry, customer service, conflict resolution and management, Margraretha has what it takes to help others obtain their dream in a profession where it may have once been impossible.
